The Bird Feeder Cafe sits conveniently at 520 E in Salt Lake City, offering an approachable spot for locals and visitors who want a relaxed coffee break without the usual fuss. Nestled alongside a bird sanctuary, the cafe stands out by allowing access without entering the aviary itself, which some appreciate for the casual convenience.

Those stopping by typically come for well-crafted coffee drinks — the regular drip and more creative options like mocha with oat milk or a doppio masala showcase a willingness to experiment beyond the standard cup. Locals seem to enjoy pairing their drinks with light fare such as the ChickenApple Salad or simple snacks like apple slices and warm, comforting sides.

The vibe here is casual and easygoing with attentive service that comes across as genuinely friendly, making it a place where you can get a satisfying coffee pick-me-up without feeling rushed. The menu also hints at a few comforting, approachable items like mac and cheese, and fans of unique flavors will find intriguing drink choices like masala chai and blackberry ginger beer that add character without overwhelming.

People tend to visit during the day when the cafe hums with a quiet energy – perfect for a mid-morning coffee run, a light lunch, or an afternoon stop to cool down with something like their popular dole whip ice cream. It’s the kind of spot that suits solo visitors looking to read or work, groups seeking a laid-back catch-up, or families enjoying a short outing near the aviary.

Overall, The Bird Feeder Cafe works well as a no-frills local coffee shop rooted in its setting, appealing to those who want decent prices, solid drinks, and a mellow retreat from busier streets. It’s not trying to be flashy, just a friendly neighborhood stop where the coffee menus and light eats meet everyday needs comfortably.

I’ve enjoyed the food in the past. This time I had the dole whip ice cream. I highly recommend as it is super affordable and super tasty. It’s awesome that you can access the cafe without entering the aviary. I will definitely be back and I recommend you try.

Good selection of lite menu items. Tried the burrito and Mac and cheese. Also had a delicious blackberry ginger beer. Fair prices, great service.

I got a mocha and was so surprised at how good it was. I guess it’s just different to get a coffee from a bird sanctuary but the mocha with oat milk was delicious.

Went here for lunch while in the park. The chicken sausage salad and baked potato chips are gluten free. Large portions and quite good. No other options, but easier than leaving the park and returning.
